About Us - Making Benefits Work for You

The Winch Group Inc. is one of Canada's largest independent employee benefit consulting firms with offices in Burlington and Cambridge, Ontario.

An enduring commitment to client satisfaction has been the foundation of The Winch Group's success since its formation in 1994. With specialized expertise in group life and health insurance programs, pension and retirement plans, executive compensation strategies, international employee benefit programs and more, The Winch Group develops customized, cost-effective solutions for each unique employee benefit need.

Today, the six principals of The Winch Group are proud to partner with more than 500 businesses across a wide range of industries that collectively employ more than 25,000 men and women. Each Winch Group principal has decades of experience in the employee benefits field, both with national carriers and as independent brokers and consultants. This depth of experience gives the firm an inside track when negotiating on behalf of their clients and has helped them obtain preferred and exclusive arrangements with many of the country's top plan providers.

As a founding member of E.B.A.I. - Employer Benefits Advisors Incorporated - The Winch Group also has access to the experience and influence of other independent benefit consultants. E.B.A.I. is Canada's leading national association of independent employer benefits advisors, providing shared research, market intelligence, and industry expertise to its members.

Exceeding customer expectations begins with a focus on thoroughly understanding the client's needs and opportunities. The Winch Group's proprietary analysis tools - BENEFITS FOCUSTM and PENSION FOCUSTM - provide a proven process that:

  • Identifies strengths and weaknesses of plan design /li>
  • Develops customized recommendations to improve performance and maximize investment return
  • Aligns programs with company culture, vision and values
  • Engages employees in the value of their benefit and pension plans through effective communication

Each year, these processes help to save millions of dollars off renewal rates for The Winch Group's clients.

While saving money for clients is a key objective of every Winch Group employee, giving back to the community is equally important to the firm. The Winch Group principals donate more than 1% of their pre-tax profits to charitable and not-for-profit organizations in their community. They also walk the talk of community involvement, investing hundreds of hours as volunteer coaches, managers, organizers and fundraisers for amateur sports teams, the United Way, the YMCA, the Heart & Stroke Foundation, and other worthy causes.

Employee benefits and pension plan needs change and evolve with market conditions and demographic trends. What doesn't change is The Winch Group's commitment to professional service, innovative solutions, superior knowledge and making benefits work for their clients.
